Hospice Associates of New Orleans is member of National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and partner of their “We Honor Veterans” program. The program provides hospice providers with specialized training and resources to honor, support and care for our country’s veterans and their families.
Recently honored, Mr. Peter Bernard Beninato proudly served in the United States Marine Corp for 11 years. Mr. Beninato, was a gunner with the 3rd Tank Battalion, 3rd Marine Division received the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Iwo Jima in 1945. Mr. Beninato was also featured in Newsweek Magazine, August 15, 2005 edition in the article “War Without Mercy. “ He was also a charter member of the National WWII Museum, where he was a volunteer from the day it opened. He also personally received Marine Corps Commandant Medallion from the 34th Commandant, James T. Conway.
We thank Mr. Beninato and his family for the permission to share his experiences. We are thankful for his service, his courage and for our freedom today.
